About Dr.Maria Montessori

Dr. Maria Montessori (1870–1952)

was an Italian physician and educator, best known for developing the Montessori method of education. She was the first woman to graduate from the University of Rome Medical School in 1896. Driven by a passion for children’s education, she observed and developed her educational philosophy through hands-on work with children, particularly those with special needs.
Dr. Maria Montessori was an intuitive visionary who gave the world a trans-generational method of learning. Respect, cooperation, trust, independence, self-reliance, and peace are the real motivators. Dr. Montessori describes the role of education in the child’s self-construction when she said, “education is not something which the teacher does, but that it is a natural process which develops spontaneously in the human being.”
